For so long, I've watched my peers and friends try their damnedest to leave smalltown Texas. I used to dream of a day when I was as far away as a train or a plane would take me. After 28 years lived, all of them spent in NETX, I've begun to see through the haze that hangs over my homestate weighing heavy on the freer-minded souls trapped by various circumstances in a pocket society that doesn't always agree with them. And still, the pristine beauty of our countrysides exists, and a certain hospitality still finds itself passed around among strangers. If the world exists for us to take up our mat and walk, then Texas is where I'm happy to kick up my feet and rest my soul.
